A revision on the WIP.

After going over my WIP, I realized that it needed a rewrite. I am going to add a new chapter at the beginning and have rethought the plot some. This will give more depth to my characters, create more believability to the story, and possibly push the word count into the novella range. If it doesn't, I'm not really worried about it because a long short story is fine too.

You know, I never really write anything here about my personal life. I suppose this is because this blog is about my writing, the dilemmas and trials of the writing life, and an escape from my otherwise mundane world. My life is no more exciting than any one else's. Probably less so than most. Although, we do take a month vacation once a year when school is out of session. We need that break. This year, we are still contemplating on where we want to go. What with gas prices eating into our vacation funds, this year may not be as exotic. (sigh)

So, let's see if I can write a new blurb for the WIP. :)

I don't think anyone is going anywhere this year.

I'm so happy I'm a homebody. I never care to go anywhere anyhow.

I travel to all the places I want to go through my writing.

Be sure to share that new blurb when you're done.

I know it's going to sound great.

Cali,

Did you finish LC? LOL I know, I'm impatient. LOL If it sucks, let me know. Of course, I hope it doesn't. I mean, of course, it doesn't. LOL

Don't be crazy, Kit!

I'm sorry I'm such a snail. I bought a storm of e-books from you all and I've been trying to read everyone equally.

I also do some reading for Cole Talent Agency. So, sometimes getting to read can be quite difficult.

I'm actually halfway through and I've really enjoyed what I've read thus far.

You truly have a way with description, by the way. You paint extremely vivid pictures...smells, sounds. I truly got a feel for your character's world.

There's only one thing I've found myself wishing...and that was to see a lot more of Susan and Don...their tumultuous relationship. For, the dynamics of that relationship seemed to have a drastic effect on Susan.

The scene between them was SO good.

I instantly wanted to see more of the couple...wanted to see what their life together was like before the day they parted ways.

Speaking frankly, I would've liked to see how that relationship fucked her up a bit more.

I know with a man like Don...she had to have gone through it.

Ugh! He was awful and I wanted to slay him, which only means you're doing a great job (evoking emotion of some sort).

Yet, I know adding that amount of history to Last Chance would've interfered with the length of it. So, I didn't hold it against you. (wink, wink)

You know how I feel about that sort of drama. I'm one who always says it's an author's job to screw up their characters' lives. And, boy, do I do a lot of that.

Trust me when I say I'll always give you an honest opinion...because I sure as hell want one. I look for people to tell me it's horrible...just so I have an excuse to go in and change it again. LOL.

Seriously, though. I'm one who will tell you what I don't like about it WITHOUT EVEN THINKING ABOUT YOUR FEELINGS.

Just kidding. I believe in very constructive criticism. And that boils down to what worked for me and what didn't. No two opinions will ever be alike. You know?

I also like to give other writers my thorough opinion because I feel they deserve more than a few words after all that hard work.

I prefer to say so much more than, "It was a really good read."

That's just foul, man.

So, it has absolutely nothing to do with the book sucking. I'm enjoying it and I will be done in no time.

Then you'll be receiving a very lengthy report.

My goodness. This is quite lengthy, isn't it?

LOL.

Have a good one, Kit.

I'll chat with you soon, luv.

Oh, Cali, thank you. LOL Honestly, their relationship wasn't that tumultous because Susan didn't say anything to him until she cut him off in that final scene. She just took his crap. Occasionally, she would say something when he came home late or missed dinner, but she was a bit of a lapdog. She didn't want to see what was happening, didn't want to upset her life. Then one day, she couldn't take it any more. She decided she deserved more.

I suppose I could have included this in the book, but it would have made it longer and I don't have the attention span for my writing. LOL I like to write, but I like to write them short. LOL

Didn't Jodici do a wonderful job, Kit?!

Thanks so much for the compliment.

I understand precisely what you're saying about Susan.

I reckon...seeing her that last night with Don (after reaching her breaking point) sort of led me to believe she could be a bit of a pushover, but could also muster up the courage it took to stand up against him when he was in the wrong.

Don't feel bad about not being able to stretch it out.

My problem is I can never write anything short...no matter how hard I try.

But I want to be able to do so one day.

So, perhaps we can take some notes off of one another.

One's shortcoming is also another person's gift. :)
